About Farewell Photography
Daido Moriyama’s 1972 photobook Farewell Photography was one of the most influential photobooks ever released. This faithful re-publication, designed by Satoshi Machiguchi in close cooperation with Moriyama, makes the seminal work available again. All photos are in the original size of the 1972 edition. The book includes a companion magazine with a retrospective essay by Moriyama. As well as details and backgrounds for each single photobook (compiled exclusively for this publication). The English edition of the companion magazine opens with an edited English translation of Moriyama’s conversation with Takuma Nakahira. This was originally included in Japanese in the 1972 release and never before translated.
