About Knit Club
Although the title may be misleading Drake's new book is about anything else but what you expect a knitting club to be. Well, there may be some things this Knit Club and a normal one have in common - both of them offer a place for people to have fun, share secrets and bond. However, the nature of the group of women Drake had the chance to collaborate with is ambigous. There is something mysterious and enchanting about the Knit Club. Even though it is a mixture of things, maybe the most important one of them is that the Knit Club is a place to belong. Drake's book is easily perceived more as a collaboration rather than a work of her own. There is no single narrator, everyone has their own voice. Furthermore, a bond between the natural and supernarural has been created between the book's covers. Drake masterfully builds moods through the deliberate use of colours and her closeness to the group, to the point we get the feeling that she has become part of it, is more than evident. The book is a portrayal of a community that manages to exist in the real world whilst not allowing to be controlled by it.
