So, War-Toys is a photo series by Brian McCarty that uniquely explores the perspectives of children living in war zones using principles of play and art therapy. Girls and boys who have been affected by conflict become art directors for McCarty's narrative photographs of locally available toys, placed and posed against war-torn locations to recreate witnessed events and shared fears.

About Brian McCarty

Brian McCarty is a photographer, art director, and producer known for his unique work with toys. While comfortable in the studio, Brian's preferred approach is to integrate toy characters into real-life situations through the use of forced perspective, working in-camera with minimal post-production. Moreover, McCarty creates his photographs by sometimes travelling to exotic locations, including active war zones.
