Anthony Burgess (February 1917 – November 1993) was primarily a comic writer. However, his dystopian satire A Clockwork Orange remains his most infamous novel. It was adapted into a controversial film by Stanley Kubrick in 1971, which Burgess said was chiefly responsible for the popularity of the book.
Burgess produced numerous other novels, including the Enderby quartet, and The Worm and the Ring.
